I have taken photos for these companies, whether it be on my own accord, for their merchandise, photo contests, or for their digital media marketing. All of these companies are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which means they don't have any financial help from the government. The way they make money is solely by generous locals and travelers that are able to give donations, memberships, admission, or fundraisers/grants.

THE ALASKA ZOO
The Alaska Zoo is based in Anchorage, AK and has had its doors open since 1969. An interesting fact about the zoo is that their very first resident was an elephant named Annabelle. She'd wear big mukluks to keep her hooves warm in the winter.
ALASKA BOTANICAL GARDEN
Alaska Botanical Garden is located in Anchorage, AK and is home to 150 species of plants. They have come a long way since their grand opening in 1993. During the 1940's and 50's, it was actually used as an US Army training site!

ALASKA WILDLIFE ALLIANCE
Giving a voice to Alaska's precious wildlife, AWA was founded in 1978. They host a photo contest for their annual calendars, and my photos have been featured in the 2024 and 2025 calendars!
THE NATURE CONSERVANCY
Similar to AWA, The Nature Conservancy uses their voices for the voiceless, conserving the lives of all nature. They are a nationwide non-profit, with members and staff alike in 80 countries.

ALASKA STATE FAIR
The Alaska State Fair is a local and tourist relic, opening their gates in 1948, but their history began way before then and continues to grow. Home to over 400 vendors, it's easy to support small businesses! They hold many competitions each year, photography included.
ALASKA TRAVEL
Alaska Travel hosts an annual photo contest, and the contestants have opportunities to be featured in their social media pages. They help tourists and locals with their dream getaways, travel itinerary ideas, things to do around each major town, and they even make brochures in the summer and winter, called activity guides. They also make activity maps for those major towns and cities.
